My NICU stay

I've been in the hospital for a couple days but with lots of good results. I left the NICU a day after I arrived and was sent to pediatrics, where mom and dad get to stay in the room with me.They're able to care for me just like we're home, I just need to remain
on monitors to track my heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen
saturation. I was on antibiotics but my blood work came back great so
they took one of my tubes away. Now they're weaning me off IV fluid,
which is going well because I'm eating plenty of mom's milk.
Meanwhile, I think I've been a pretty good boy. I sleep a couple hours
at a time and am eating lots. Many of the nurses say it's not a
surprise because I'm so big.
I enjoy cuddling with mom and dad and they seem to get a kick out of my
little chirps and sqeaks. They say I am ridiculously cute, but they're
probably biased.

I’m Here!

Maxwell Grey Peterman has arrived!

How I measure up:

9 lbs 5 oz
20 in long
14.5 in head circumfrence
8 fingers, 2 thumbs, 10 toes

Hello world! I arrived five days earlier than my July 26, 2007, due date. Mom and dad went to Swedish Ballard on Friday, July 20 and I showed up Saturday morning. I'm a big healthy boy with lots of dark hair, but we can't tell if it will be curly like mom's or turn red like my dad's was when he was little.

I am having a little trouble breathing, something about I may have taken a deep breath on the way out, swallowed some fluid, and now I'm breathing a little fast. Mom and dad said I'm now at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the big Swedish hospital so they can better monitor me.

The good news is I didn't need oxygen very long and was breathing on my own my first night here. I do have to stay for at least a couple days because they're running some tests, but then I'll get to go home and see my dogs and cats.
